How IVF Treatment can help you conceive

If you are facing fertility issues, you might be asking yourself this question: Is IVF treatment a viable solution to help me get pregnant? The short answer to that question is yes. IVF is one of the most reliable ways for women to get pregnant. With the help of procedures such as IVF, conception for women who were previously unable to conceive has become much more possible. IVF or in-vitro fertilizations is a process to help couples conceive.

Couples who otherwise were experiencing difficulties getting pregnant can also opt for IVF as it accounts for almost half of new fertility procedures. One of the most important steps of this process is analyzing your fertility needs and identifying the reasons behind infertility.

What is IVF treatment?

IVF treatment is a cycle of steps that are carried out to help a woman get pregnant. The process begins with hormone injections to stimulate the ovaries and produce eggs. Once mature, the eggs are extracted from the ovary and placed in a dish where sperm is added for fertilizations. This embryo is then transferred into a woman’s uterus with the hope of implantation and pregnancy development.

IVF treatment is used when other fertility treatments have failed or when there are medical reasons why conceiving naturally isn’t possible. It can be an expensive process and isn’t guaranteed to work but it does give couples hope for parenthood if they otherwise wouldn’t have any options available to them.

How Does IVF Treatment work?

IVF treatment is a process that involves stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs, fertilizing the eggs in a laboratory, placing the fertilized eggs back into the uterus and monitoring pregnancy. The entire process can take from six to nine weeks.

The first step is to collect eggs from your ovaries. You may need hormones to stimulate your ovaries to produce more than one egg. You will be given medication to help you release the eggs into your fallopian tubes.

Follicles containing eggs are collected from your ovaries using ultrasound-guided transvaginal aspiration (UGTA). The doctor passes a long needle through your vagina and into your ovary where he or she collects follicles containing eggs by suctioning them out. The procedure usually takes less than 20 minutes and you should be able to go home immediately afterwards.

Why is IVF Treatment done?

1. To overcome ovulation problems. The most common cause of infertility is ovulation problems in women. The egg produced by the woman may not be mature enough or may not be released from the ovary at all. In such cases, IVF treatment can help to retrieve eggs from the woman and fertilize
them in a laboratory setting before implanting them back into her uterus.

2. To overcome male infertility problems. Men have their own share of issues when it comes to fertility too. For example, men with low sperm count or poor sperm motility face trouble conceiving naturally and need IVF treatment to overcome their infertility issues.

3. In cases where both partners are infertile and need medical intervention for conception, IVF treatment is recommended as it has better success rates than other medical options such as intrauterine insemination (IUI).

When is IVF Treatment performed?

IVF treatment is usually performed when other forms of treatment have failed. Women who are over the age of 35 may undergo IVF if they cannot conceive naturally. In some cases, women who do not ovulate regularly or do not produce eggs may also need IVF.

It is used to treat infertility when other treatments fail or prevent pregnancy after a miscarriage or abortion.

IVF is a highly effective treatment

IVF is a highly effective treatment. The chances of having a baby through IVF are approximately 20 times higher than the natural rate.

In one cycle, you have a 25% chance of having a baby. This means that if you do four cycles of IVF, you increase your chances to 100%.

IVF success rates vary from clinic to clinic and from country to country. The success rates in the UK are high, but they are not as high as in some other countries such as Sweden and Denmark where the average success rate per cycle is 30%.
